There are currently more than 60 active members of the MAS. The organization welcomes new members.

Qualifications for Membership:

Surgeons certified by the American Board of Surgery, or equivalent certifying organization at the discretion of the council, who are engaged in the practice, teaching or investigation of surgery and who are known to be ethical, by the usual standards are eligible for membership.

The membership consists of active and senior members: An active member of the Academy who has reached the age of 65 may be admitted to senior membership. Senior members have the option of attending (and paying for) individual dinners without paying annual dues.

Annual dues are currently set at $375 per year, which includes all dinners (6) and CME credits. Dues are typically assessed in January of each year.
